JixiPix Pastello Pro is an application that accompanies the new Imixi Pro from JixiPix. Pastello takes you back to the 15th century. Allow large brushes and strokes to delve into the realm of dry media with simply brilliant, exquisite color. Leonardo da Vinci’s famous “dry color method” was impressive for its simplicity and beauty, with black chalk, red chalk and yellow reflections. The artist then paints the charming portrait and combines it very delicately. A few centuries later, pastel was quickly awash with vibrant colors and sharp details. Fast forward to the present and the digital age, where as an artist you can mix and match mediums that are difficult or impossible in a traditional setting.

PASTEL STYLES

Colored pencils, graphite, charcoal and chalk have filling options and details that can be layered on top of each other for infinite variations. Conte has a dynamic sketching feature that lets you fill shadows, midtones, and highlights with hatching or glazing. All with the ability to change the direction, size, volume and variation of the stroke.

Pastel – (soft) has a soft, buttery consistency and intense color. This effect is dense and filled with paper grain. Artists find this medium particularly suitable for outdoor landscapes, as the color ranges are vibrant and the medium itself is dust-free and portable.
Chalk – (hard pastel) has a slightly dusty effect with small stains of preserved paper. This chalk pastel is known for its soft strokes and velvety texture. This style is great for creating a delicate web of colors by stacking or doubling layers, allowing those underneath to show through and creating an interesting design.
Charcoal – creates a velvety black charcoal effect with gray tones. Use it to warm the underpainting of a composition or to top off a finished charcoal piece.

Crayon – creates a colorful, waxy base for a design and then buffs it with white Conté for highlighting or teether for shading.
Fill Brush – Choose to color areas of the drawing with chalk, charcoal, crayon, or pencil in the layer, or fill the entire layer as a base for pencil, crayon, and charcoal.
Signature Layer – Add a personal touch to any drawing in the form of two styles: one using a font from the fonts installed on your computer and the other by hand painting. Both signatures can be adjusted using the Stroke Size and Stroke Volume sliders.
